There are a lot of different career paths for a graphic designer. One path that really sticks out to me after I finish college is the top one Entry-Level Designer as one of the websites I looked at describes it as a way to gain some practical experience in an entry-level experience.

Another possible role could be a freelance designer who accepts small jobs off people for money. This probably wouldn’t be what I would want to do forever and move onto better things like an Art Director or Creative Director after a few years. These two roles are linked. The Creative Director is responsible for the overall vision of a project, Product, Campaign or Company. The art director takes that vision and interprets it and creates the overall designs and themes for the projects and guide the team members who create the element for the projects. although it takes years of to get to the level of these two jobs I think it would be fun and worth while.

Another job that really sticks out is Layout Artist who designs the structure and layout of images and text in a pleasing format for printed media. It can include magazine work, brochures, flyers, books, CD booklets and posers. This job is similar to stuff I’ve done in the past like creating posters and a small booklet. all these jobs are something that I would want to do in the future. Skills that you can develop through these jobs are time management, research skills, capacity to work independently.

After I leave college I want to work freelance for a while earning money from selling artworks to stock image websites that might want them it won’t make a lot of money but the more I upload to different sites the more it will generate. I also want to set up accounts on freelance websites where people can order what they want and I can make it for them which would make more money than selling stock images. I want to do a mixture of stuff like peoples advertising using Photoshop and making fun vector artworks with affinity designer. It’s defiantly something I want to do. I would also like to expand into photography as well as I really enjoy taking photos of anything I can make look good in an image.
